of History Curriculum
This curriculum builds on students' interest in clothing and fashion statements
by helping them develop a framework of important dates and events in U.S. history
through an exploration of clothing and style in the years 1600-1980. The curriculum
includes timelines, pictures, readings, formal and informal writing assignments,
multiple choice practice, and suggestions for interpreting and synthesizing
new information through visual, kinesthetic, and interpersonal activities.
A bi-monthly publication of articles and news primarily written by and intended for adult literacy practitioners in the Greater Boston area. Complete issues of the newsletter published since May, 1998, are available here, as are text-only versions of virtually all articles published in the newsletter since May, 1996.
Complete Issues of the All Write News: To access these issues you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded for free on the Web. Go to Adobe's Web site at "www.adobe.com/" and click on the little yellow box that says "Get Acrobat Reader." Just follow the instructions, but be prepared for it to take some time to download the program.
IMPORTANT NOTE: If you run into trouble trying to access one of these files, it may be due to a problem with Acrobat Reader. There is a default setting in Acrobat Reader 5 that apparently causes a problem for some computers. If you get an error message, you may be able to fix it by doing the following: Open Acrobat Reader>Edit>Preferences>Internet settings>Options, and then UNCHECK "Allow fast web view." (If you don't find Options under Internet settings, try under General.) Please note: The "Allow fast web view" box will already be checked; you want to UNCHECK it.
