First hit On Your Own, this gives you full control
of the program.
Select Get Photo to open existing file, acquire a scan or
input digital photo
Note: You will need to have the proper plug-in placed in your
Photo Deluxe
Plug Ins folder. This is usually done for you whan you install
the software that
comes with you scanner or digital camera.
Here you also will be able to open Kodak Photo CDs.
Click button for desired action

Then click Advanced button to give you all the Modify options
Advanced offers the ability to alter
images via the tabbed pages
EDIT / TOOLS/ ORIENTATION / SIZE / QUALITY / EFFECTS
At this point it is a good time to change the
units of measurement to Pixels
not inches. Go to File Menu and select Preferences /
Units and change Ruler Units
to Pixels.

Trim
Select Size : Trim
Click and Drag an area around desired portion of picture. Try to get rid of
as much as possible. Making the file size smaller is the goal. Hit Return
once you have settled on a good trim.
Photo Size
Select Size : Photo Size and reduce largest dimension to no larger than 300
Pixels. The exception to this is for text images or where the image is vitally
important. Otherwise reduce, reduce, reduce. Just like Richard Simmons
sez ! Also make sure Contrain Proportions is selected and File Size is not.
Add Border (optional)
Size : Canvas SizeAdd 2 or 4 pixels to both dimensions
(Should be even number)
Border Color will be your selected Background Color
To select background color go to Tools : Change Color and click on
Color Box. In Color Picker dialog select background color and select a new
from the palette.
Compress File Format
GIF (for Graphic Logos 256 colors or less)Select Send Button / 1 ExportSelect GIF Fomat and hit Advanced
Make Palette Adaptive and in Colors pull down menu
Select either 16 or 32 then click OK
Name your file: filename.gif
JPEG (for continuous tone photographs /millions of colors)Save your work with changes up to this pointThen Select Send Button / Other Export
Name file filename.jpg
and select JPG format from Save As pull down menu
Hit Save
Then hit Options in next dialog. Here input a quality level of 1 or 2.
Hit OK
Close your new .jpg file and open it again (Photoshop for some reason
doesn't show you the results of your compression without doing this.)
Preview the results. If compression was too harsh try again from original
image. Compressing an already compressed image will result in severe
loss of quality.
